The Swiss Pine Room was also a hayloft. I recall the care taken to stow away the harvest, it was the children’s task to flatten the hay, perhaps because we were light and wouldn’t ruin the leaves and flowers the cows loved to eat during the winter and helped produce higher quality milk. I remember the dust and diving into the hay on the sly.
